Suspension of Sheboygan mayor's removal before council
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — Sheboygan's mayor says new allegations contained in a Common Council resolution about his removal from office are politically motivated.
The resolution alleges Mayor Bob Ryan was intoxicated while conducting city business three times between 2009 and 2011 and that he had “uninvited sexual contact” with a woman last July. In an interview with WISN-TV, Ryan says he's ready to move forward with a hearing to prove the allegations are false. He says the allegations “stink of politics.”
The resolution before the council Monday night calls for the city to suspend the process to remove Ryan from office until after the recall race is over. Ryan says he's a recovering alcoholic and has been sober for five months.
