Police: 3 officers injured when man steals cab
Chicago police say three officers were injured after a man allegedly stole a taxi cab and struck a police car as he was fleeing.
Police spokesman John Mirabelli says the incident was reported around 7:30 a.m. Sunday on the city's near North Side. A cab driver flagged down police to report that his cab had been stolen while he had been inside a coffee shop.
The Chicago Tribune reports that the man allegedly drove through a red light and truck a squad car injuring two officers. Authorities say the man then jumped out of the cab and tried to flee on foot, injuring another officer.
The 30-year-old man is in custody. Felony charges are pending.
Police say the officers' injuries aren't life threatening.
