Man dies after being struck by Metra train
Authorities said a man has died after he was struck by a Metra train in the Southwest suburbs.
Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said a train was pulling into a station in Tinley Park when it struck the man early Monday morning.
Metra officials said the man was walking near the tracks. Authorities said he didn’t have identification on him.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office said the man was in his 30s and pronounced dead at the scene.
The train was scheduled to arrive in Joliet around 12:40 a.m. but was stopped for nearly two hours.
