Church favors new birth control rules

I am the minister of The DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church. Our church supports the new rules in the Affordable Care Act, that all insurers must cover all contraceptives with no co-payments.

There is an exemption to this rule for churches and other houses of worship. We oppose any expansion of this exemption to hospitals, universities, charitable organizations and other entities affiliated with religious organizations. Such an exemption would take away birth control coverage for millions of Americans, such as nurses, teachers, janitors and laundry staff, who work or study at these institutions,

The DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church support is based on the “Statement of Conscience” supporting reproductive rights for women, passed by the congregation of the church in 2010.
