Elgin Choral Union presents ‘Messiah’ Dec. 17, 18

The award-winning Elgin Choral Union is set to take the stage with its stirring rendition of Handel’s “Messiah” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, in the Blizzard Theatre, located in the Elgin Community College Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
The choir will be accompanied by a 22-member Baroque-period sized orchestra, from the highly acclaimed Elgin Symphony Orchestra.
Handel’s “Messiah,” perhaps the most performed and beloved of all his choral works, will be led by Maestro Andrew Lewis. For many music enthusiasts’, the holiday season is not complete without enjoying this classic.
Four of Chicago’s most exciting vocalists — Megan Bell, Lindsey Adams, Trevor Mitchell and Eric Miranda — will be featured soloists for the performance.
Tickets for the concert can be purchased by visiting artscenter@elgin.edu or by calling (847) 622-0300. ECC box office hours are Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.; and 45 minutes prior to the events. Ticket prices range from $18 to $23, with discounts for children and groups.
A two-concert subscription, which includes tickets for ECU’s “Messiah” and its “Spring Serenade” program are available at the cost of $40 for adults, $30 for seniors and $26 for students. The “Spring Serenade” is scheduled for late March and early April.

Elgin Choral Union, under the direction of Andrew Lewis, is the oldest performing arts organization in the Fox Valley.
