Candidate quits county race:

A Republican Lake County Board candidate has withdrawn from the March 2012 primary, just days after filing paperwork for the race, the county clerk’s office confirmed Friday. Sharon Carmody’s decision to quit the 4th District race leaves incumbent Brent Paxton the only GOP candidate for the seat. Two Democrats also are running, and Paxton will face the winner in the November 2012 general election.
