Let residents guide budget process

Are we really as crazy as it seems?

For the last several years, the American and world economies have been so depressed that some demographic groups have a 40-percent unemployment rate.

Jobs have been lost. Homes have been lost. Retirement investments have been lost.

Yet, Elgin’s Mayor Kaptain, like the heads of many government entities, have joined the “Hope and Change” parade by continuing to raise taxes instead of cutting spending.

I have a suggestion for the politicians. Impanel a group of citizens to find the cuts needed to balance spending to revenues.

They do it every day.
