Wis. teen helps save man who rescued him earlier

MONDOVI, Wis. (AP) — A volunteer firefighter in western Wisconsin helped save the life of a teen three years ago. Now the teen has repaid the favor.

Tanner Franson was 13 when he suffered a stroke in 2008. One of the emergency responders who rushed him to the hospital was Jim Rud of Mondovi.

This year, Rud was mowing grass around Mirror Lake when his mower tipped over, landing on top of him in the water. He began to scream for help.

Franson happened to be in a nearby park when he heard a woman scream to call 911. He and his friends raced into the water and pulled the mower off of Rud.

A WEAU-TV report says when the two reconnected recently, Rud joked about how the two are even now.
