Libertyville cuts natural gas tax

Libertyville residents will pay less for natural gas following action this week by the village board. Trustees agreed to lower the natural gas utility tax from 5 percent to 4 percent. The tax, one of three new or increased revenue generators enacted a little more than two years ago, was to expire April 30. Village officials agreed to the reduction in light of an improving financial picture. The lower rate will appear on bills issued on or after Feb. 1.
