Congrats to Elgin Academy Battle of the Books team
Battle of the Books is a program that is co-sponsored by the Gail Borden Public Library, the Bartlett Public Library, and the Poplar Creek Public Library. Each year, a list of books is prepared and teams from area schools are asked questions based on these books.
Battle of the Books, also known at BOB, is a program for 4th, 5th and 6th grade students.
The Elgin Academy team took the first place finish in the third meet of the season! They performed exceptionally well as a team and their knowledge, hard work and determination gave them the edge necessary to come out on top.
The Battle of the Books is a contest that has as its purpose the encouragement of quality reading. Team members read books from a list of books chosen by librarians.
Scores are kept and winners are recognized; however, much emphasis throughout the season is placed on the fun of participation and the satisfaction that comes from reading and from starting and finishing an assignment. Congratulations on a job well done.
