Carry Christmas spirit all year long
Just read Burt Constable’s column about the passionate feelings inspired by the Nativity scene. Have to admit that I share this feeling. Who cannot help but be moved when gazing at the new parents overwhelmed with joy after the birth of their child? It makes me remember those glorious feelings of tremendous hope and gladness that I experienced after the birth of my own children and grandkids.
It was nice to read the comments of James Finnegan regarding the spirit of love inspired by the figures of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. I wish that every child could be loved and welcomed as much as the Christ child was. I liked the questions Mr. Finnegan posed regarding the different ways people view religion, especially when he seemed to indicate that we do not have the right to judge other people because we do not know what is in another person’s soul. For once I am in total agreement!
Christmas is a season when people are a little kinder and less judgmental. The world would be a better place if only we were reminded of those truths throughout the rest of the year. The strong and passionate feelings inspired by religious faith can either unite or divide. My Christmas wish is that whatever images inspire us to be kinder and more respectful people remain in our hearts and minds all year long, not just during the month of December.
