Lake candidates face objections

The candidate petitions of five Lake County political hopefuls have been formally challenged, county clerk officials said Wednesday. If the challenges are upheld by a three-member review panel, the candidates could be removed from the March 2012 primary ballot. The targeted candidates are: Howard Cooper, a Republican running for coroner; Karen Boyd Williams, a Democrat running for state’s attorney; Mark Stricklin, a Democrat running in the county board’s 2nd District; Ted Ramai, a Democrat running in the county board’s 4th District; and Sharon Carmody, a Republican running in the county board’s 4th District. The objections will be reviewed at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the county government center in Waukegan. Monday was the deadline to object to a Lake County candidate’s petition.
