Ind. financial adviser to plead guilty to fraud
FISHERS, Ind. — A central Indiana financial adviser has agreed to plead guilty to federal charges alleging that he bilked investors out of more than $7 million.
The Indianapolis Star reports Keenan Hauke will face charges of committing securities fraud through his two companies. The fund manager in the suburban Indianapolis town of Fishers has been under investigation for months.
Federal prosecutors say in a complaint filed Tuesday that the 40-year-old Hauke ran a Ponzi scheme that used money from new investors to pay returns to earlier investors.
State and federal agents and a receiver appointed in Hamilton Superior Court are poring over financial records to assess the value of Hauke’s assets. His holdings include a home in Fishers, more than 1,100 gold and silver coins and a condominium in Barbados.
