C. Ind. school board fires teacher accused of rape
INDIANAPOLIS — A central Indiana school board has fired a high school teacher accused by a 16-year-old student of raping her.
The Herald-Times reports (http://bit.ly/uBAL8Q ) the Monroe-Gregg school board voted Monday to cancel the contract of Daniel Goens, who taught and formerly coached football and track at Monrovia High School, about 25 miles southwest of Indianapolis.
The 45-year-old man has pleaded not guilty in Marion County to charges of rape, criminal deviate conduct, criminal confinement and two counts of child seduction.
Goens had been placed on paid administrative leave in September after the girl made the allegations.
Court documents allege the rape occurred at Goens' Indianapolis home last April. The girl has told investigators she had been a teacher's aide to Goens.
