Batavia Access TV’s ‘Born to Read’ video honored
Batavia Access Television received an honorable mention in a national contest for the “Born to Read” public-service announcement it produced for the Batavia Public Library.The award was bestowed in November by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors.#147;Being recognized by a national group of industry elite is a huge honor,#148; station manager Holly Deitchman said. #147; ... I thought that the video was a great example of how community partners work together ... plus, the video just turned out so cute.#148; #147;Born to Read#148; offers free bags of books and early-literacy information to babies in Batavia, the library district and the Batavia school district. English- and Spanish-language materials are available. #147;As with any ongoing program, it needs to be promoted frequently to reach families new to Batavia and new parents,#148; said Joanne Zillman, the library#146;s youth services manager.It took BATV volunteer Peter Hongisto and BATV worker Jen Brens two hours to tape the video. It is available to Comcast subscribers in Batavia, Campton, Plano and Rutland townships as well as the city of Batavia. It is also available to ATT U-Verse subscribers.
