Hanover Park chamber names ECC ‘Business of the Year’

Elgin Community College was named 2011 Business of the Year by the Hanover Park Chamber of Commerce.

In giving the award during its holiday dinner on Dec. 9, the chamber noted the college’s continued efforts in being involved in its community and providing educational opportunities to all.

“Our membership has seen how the college serves the community,” says Andrea Fox, chamber president and CEO. “ECC has helped through outreach and by providing job training opportunities to employees of our businesses in Hanover Park.”

ECC President David Sam, PhD, JD, and Robert McBride, EdD, chair of the Community College District 509 board of trustees, accepted the award on behalf of the college.

The Hanover Park chamber has more than 70 businesses. Fox says the college was selected for the award through nominations by the chamber’s members and several write-in votes.
