Remove pesky political labels
My wish for the holiday season is a simple one. Remove the Democratic and Republican labels from our elected officials. The way it is now, it’s Democrats vs. Republicans, which in my opinion equals ego vs. ego, and nothing more.
It appears to me that each party is seeking approval for any kind of accomplishment, but in doing so they fail to compromise, and nothing gets done in the process. Our officials are not working for the American people as we elected them to do, but instead appear to be more worried of losing their jobs in the upcoming elections. We as a people have the opportunity to do something about it in November.
I for one am tired of hearing excuses like the one that “the supercommittee of 12 was expected to fail in reaching their goal to deal with the rising deficit.” Why in the world was the committee formed when it was meant to fail?
I think maybe we should start there, with the supercommittee of six Democrats and six Republicans, by voting them out of office. It seems to me that they might see that we as a people are serious, and that if others we hire to do our bidding fail, then they, too, will go. Happy Holidays and God Bless America.
