S. Ind. man accused of stealing school’s tuba
NEWBURGH, Ind. — Southern Indiana police say a man accused of stealing a tuba from the University of Evansville was arrested after trying to sell it to the store that sold the instrument to the university.
WFIE-TV in Evansville reports Kevin Scott Neal was arrested Wednesday on a theft charge. He remained jailed Thursday evening at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
Village Tinker owner Dan Schultz says the 34-year-old Neal called his Newburgh instrument repair shop Tuesday night, saying he wanted to sell his son’s tuba. But before Neal arrived Wednesday morning with the tuba, the university’s music director called Schulz, saying someone had stolen the school’s $3,500 tuba.
School security called police after they raced to the shop and identified Neal as the same man seen on a school surveillance video.
