Blago’s brother: 14-year sentence ‘grossly unfair’

Rod Blagojevich’s brother says the 14-year prison sentence given to the convicted former governor is “grossly unfair.”

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Robert Blagojevich spoke to his brother this week for the first time since July. Both brothers were once indicted in the federal investigation. Jurors last year deadlocked on charges against Robert Blagojevich.

Prosecutors pursued a new trial this year for Rod Blagojevich and got convictions on 17 of 20 counts. A federal judge sentenced him Wednesday.

Robert Blagojevich says he broke down crying when he heard the sentence.

He says his brother is dealing with the thought of prison “remarkably well” and understands that “he’s going away for a long time.” He says his brother is also hopeful about a possible appeal.
