Board wrong to push Bartlett mayor out

The residents of Bartlett have lost our beloved Mayor Mike. His resignation has left us with heavy hearts. We are upset and feel he had been bullied by the board of trustees since Day 1.

The board’s decision to hire an outside attorney would mean that we the taxpayers would foot that bill. Mike Kelly would not let that happen. He sacrificed his right to defend himself for the people of Bartlett.

Mike Kelly brought warmth and real concern to the people. People from all areas of town would meet monthly with him. We sat next to some of the trustees who put on a false face to us.

We will continue to back Mike Kelly. He and our police department were successful in ridding our neighborhood of many bad elements. I highly doubt if anyone else would have cared. We will pay close attention to the next elections.

Granted, Mr. Kelly was late on his taxes. Hey, he paid them! Look at Carol Mosley Braun. Look at Marion Barry — and he was re-elected. Fine example to set for kids. It’s ok to lie; the lawyers can spin it. As a taxpayer, I am offended by the actions of the board of trustees. I am not alone, and we are angry.
