Daniels holiday reading ranges wonky to historical
INDIANAPOLIS — Gov. Mitch Daniels is recommending holiday gift-givers wrap some books for friends and family this season.
His list of 2011 titles includes Ulysses S. Grant’s memoir and Edmund Morris’ biography of Theodore Roosevelt. Daniels is also pitching partisan accounts of the nation’s energy and debt problems.
Last year’s list included Henry Kissinger’s advice on diplomacy and an argument against the college football BCS system. This year’s sports recommendation argues 1939 was the greatest year in Major League Baseball history.
Daniels also plugs the original “True Grit” on his 2011 list. He says the book is better than both movies based on it.
