2 rescued from truck stuck in S. Ind. floodwaters
LITTLE YORK, Ind. — Emergency workers rescued a couple after their pickup truck became stranded in floodwaters in southern Indiana.
State conservation officers say the water was approaching the bottom of the truck's windows when they arrived at scene Wednesday afternoon on Indiana 39 near the Washington County town of Little York. A conservation officer was able to wade out about 400 yards into the water to give both people life vests.
A volunteer firefighter later arrived by boat and was able to take 75-year-old Josirah Combest and 74-year-old Pauline Combest of Butlerville to safety in the rural area about 30 miles north of Louisville, Ky.
Officers say they were treated at a hospital for possible hypothermia and released.
