Rolling Meadows church peforms ‘Life With Father’

Come with the Community Church of Rolling Meadows back to the 1890s, when the Christmas hustle and bustle wasn’t the stress-inducer it is today, for an old-fashioned dinner and the radio play, “Life With Father.”

The dinner-theater will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, at the church, 2720 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows. The dinner begins at 6 p.m.; the play starts at 7:30 p.m.

“Life With Father,” the award-winning Broadway play and movie, has been adapted as a radio play for the church’s third annual Holiday Dinner Theatre presentation. The comedy is based on the memoirs of Clarence Day, who affectionately recounts growing up in an upper-middle class New York family in the 1890s. The play has been adapted for radio-on-stage by the Rev. Rande Wayne Smith, pastor of Community Church.

The dinner is meant to be reminiscent of what the Berghoff Restaurant in Chicago would have served during that era.

Tickets for the dinner/play are $20 per person; $10 for the play only. Because there is limited seating for the dinner, tickets must be purchased in advance, either at the church or calling (847) 255-5510. Visit communitychurchrm.com.
