Palatine continues cleanup at gas station site

Palatine is entering the next phase of environmental cleanup of the former Clark gas station site at 5 W. Palatine Road.

The village council this week approved spending $40,200 to further investigate underground storage tank leaks by taking soil and groundwater samples and installing monitoring wells. The village expects to be reimbursed for a majority of the cost through both an environmental escrow fund and from the state.

The building is tentatively scheduled for demolition this month pending county permits.
