Hoffman Estates Dominick’s to close

The Dominick’s Finer Foods store at Golf and Barrington roads in Hoffman Estates is expected to close by late January due to poor performance, the company said Wednesday.

Dominick’s, owned by Pleasanton, Calif.-based Safeway Inc., is working to transfer all of its 26 full-time and 32 part-timer workers to other nearby Dominick’s stores, said company spokeswoman Lauri Sanders. She declined to say if severance packages will be offered to workers who don’t transfer to other stores.

Business will continue as usual at the Hoffman Estates grocery store until it closes. No liquidation sales will be offered. The store site is leased, she said.
