C. Ind. district fires bus driver after DUI arrest
KOKOMO, Ind. — A central Indiana school district has fired a bus driver who faces charges that she was drunk while driving members of a high school swimming team.
The Kokomo school board fired 56-year-old Theresa Mast on Monday, two days after her arrest. Kokomo High School’s girls swim coach told police that the team was on going to an event in Richmond when Mast weaved from lanes on U.S. 31 before the coach got Mast to stop in Hamilton County so the team could move to another bus.
Police say Mast had a blood-alcohol level of 0.20 percent.
Mast is jailed on drunken driving and child endangerment charges. It wasn’t clear whether she had an attorney.
Prosecutor Mark McCann tells the Kokomo Tribunethat more charges are possible against Mast.
