Santa to visit ‘Caroling and Caring’ at Elgin hospital

Submitted by Provena St. Joseph Hospital

St. Nicholas will arrive by fire truck for the annual “Caroling and Caring” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 in the main lobby of Provena St. Joseph Hospital, 77 N. Airlite St. in Elgin.

Join the fun and sing Christmas carols and ring bells with hospital employees, members of Scout troops, area cheerleaders, Elgin fire and police departments, Altrusa International Club, and various community members. Enjoy a free picture with Santa, cookies and candy canes.

Sgt. Tom Olson of the Elgin Police Department will read aloud Chris Van Allsburg’s “The Polar Express” and Lillian Pagni will read her own book, “The Christmas Tree That Never Was.”

Bring a donation of new T-shirts, socks or underwear in any size which will be distributed to agencies and schools for the underprivileged in the community.

“For the past 15 years, this event has been a highlight of the holiday season and one way to remember and attend to the needs of our neighbors,” according to Provena St. Joseph Hospital CEO and President Dr. Eugene McMahon.
