3rd person arrested over burned body in C. Indiana
MUNCIE, Ind. — A third person has been arrested in connection with the killing of a woman whose body was found on fire near a central Indiana nature preserve.
Muncie police say the 33-year-old man arrested Sunday in Anderson faces preliminary charges of assisting a criminal for the death of a woman whose burning body was spotted by motorists Saturday near the Craddock Wetlands Nature Preserve.
Police Capt. Mark Vollmar tells The Star Press that investigators believe 24-year-old Terry Rutledge killed the woman at a Muncie home and that the man arrested in Anderson and a woman arrested Saturday helped move the body and clean up the scene. Rutledge was jailed and it wasn’t clear whether he has an attorney.
An autopsy was planned Monday to confirm the woman’s identity.
