Ex-St. Charles mayor files for Kane County chairman

There will be a Democratic primary for Kane County Board chairman, as ex-St. Charles mayor Sue Klinkhamer filed her election petitions Friday morning.

She will face former Carpentersville village president Bill Sarto.

Four more people have filed petitions since Monday seeking the Republican Party’s nomination for election to Kane County Board seats.

They are Gregory Nelson of Montgomery, for District 8; Darren G. Delgado of North Aurora, for District 10; Jeffrey A. Meyer of Elgin, for District 17; and Henoch Fuentes of Elgin, for District 20.

For the Democrats, Kate Bennett of Geneva filed for the District 11 seat, and Kevin S. Smith of Carpentersville for the District 23 position.

In state races, Republican Dan Duffy of Lake Barrington filed for 26th Senate, Republican Pamela Althoff of McHenry filed for 32nd Senate, Republican Peter Hurtado of Plainfield filed for 42nd Senate and Democrat Andrew Bernard of Batavia filed for 50th House.

In the 16th Judicial Circuit, Circuit Judge John Barsanti of St. Charles is running for the Republican nomination for the Colwell vacancy. In its 2nd subcircuit, John G. Dalton of Elgin is seeking the Democratic nomination, while John Walters and John Hurlbut, both of Elgin, are seeking the Republican nomination. Hurlbut is the husband of Kane County Board member Catherine Hurlbut.

Candidates have until the end of the business day Monday to file nomination petitions.
