Lombard releases village board meeting minutes

On Dec. 2, Lombard Village President William J. Mueller and Village Clerk Brigitte O'Brien released the Lombard Village Board of Trustee's Action of Dec. 1, 2011 meeting.

• The board approved minutes of the special board meeting of Nov. 9, 2011 and the regular board meeting of Nov. 17, 2011.

Other ordinances on First Reading

• Resident request at 661 N. Charlotte St. to reduce the required back yard setback from 30 feet to 15 feet to allow for the construction of a screened porch addition. Request was denied by the Zoning Board of Appeals and was continued to the Dec. 1st meeting by the village board. Resident requested this matter be continued to the board meeting of Jan. 19, 2012.

• Approved an amendment to the Lombard Village Code to allow for the use of irrigation wells for the purpose of landscape irrigation on properties zoned CR Conservation Recreation in excess of 25 acres.

• Approved Plan Commission recommendation to allow for a motor vehicle repair, service and sales for the property located at the north east corner of North Avenue and Grace Street. Gary Grossman, President of Windy City Motorsports of Long Grove said he plans to repair the current building and repave the parking lot, as he expands his business to this location.

• Plan Commission recommendation for the increase in senior citizen housing by Lexington Health Care/Lexington Square from 271 units to 300 units was continued to the Dec. 15, 2011 at the request of the petitioner.

Ordinances Approved on Second Reading

• Approved the tax levy and assessment of taxes for the fiscal year beginning June 1, 2011 and ending May 31, 2012 for the Village of Lombard.

Resolutions Approved

• Resolution of Objection to a request to DuPage County for a request for variations associated with a detached garage for property located in unincorporated Lombard at 21W174 Hemstead Road.

• Authorized an amendment to the contract with Christopher B. Burke LTD reflecting a change in the scope of services pertaining to the engineering services agreement for the development of the Public Works property at the north end of Garfield St. in the amount of $9,964.57 as Contract Amendment #2.

• Approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Bartlett, the Village of Hanover Park, the Lombard Public Facilities Corporation and DuComm for the use of the Communications Room and antennas and equipment located at The Westin Hotel and provides the Village with $85,033.45 toward Starcom radio equipment to be used by the Village of Lombard public safety personnel.

Other Matters

Approved the following…

• Request of Lombard Town Center for temporary banners on Village owned properties for their Passport Program from Dec. 2, 2011 through Dec. 24, 2011.

• Approval of the Plat of Easement for Route 38 Autowash and Detail located at 200 W. Roosevelt Rd. providing for storm water detention.

• Approval of the Plat of Easement for two storm water detention areas at Sunset Knoll Park, located at 820 S. Finley Rd.

• The village received a Community Block Grant in the amount of $48,618 to improve the accessibility of the Village Board Room under the ADA Enhancement Project. The board approved a contract with J-Mac Associates Ltd. in the amount of $94,183.00 to meet ADA standards to provide for the handicapped.

• Authorized a three-year contract with Verizon Wireless for Village Cellular Phone Service to replace our current contract with Nextel at a savings estimated at $300- $400 a month with an improvement in services to better fit the needs of the village.

• Approved with a waiver of bids a contract to Horton Emergency Vehicles in the amount of $161,450 to replace a current ALS Ambulance.

• No action was taken on the recommendation of the Finance Department and the Finance Committee to provide for a lifetime senior vehicle sticker with a one time cost of $21. The sticker would not expire and the resident would not need to submit an application each year. This would have been an added convenience to senior residents.

Village board meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall Board Room at 255 E. Wilson Ave.
