Not much word from forest preserve
Since news broke about two DuPage Forest Preserve employees being let go following an “internal” investigation, the DCFP Board of Commissioners have been on the lam, having the following two weeks meetings canceled. Not much has been said in the media about what is going on, other than it involves no bid contracts, which have long been criticized by DCFP critics.
The fact that so little information has been released in spite of DCFP having a $400,000 staff of PR personnel, is curious, but even more so taking into account that the board of commissioners felt it necessary to hire under a $48,000 no bid yearly contract, a partisan political consulting firm, Reverse Spin.
It appears there is a crisis under way at the district that not even a self-described game changer will be able to make go away. In reality, whatever Reverse Spin’s Dan Curry does or doesn’t do will likely make matters worse. You have to question if the board members knew what they were doing.
The DCFP had once been under the control of the county board. Perhaps the DCFP Board of Commissioners should be dissolved and reverted back to county board control. It would make economic sense and put the blame where it belongs; on DCFP President Dewey Pierotti and his board of commissioners.
