IU law school at Indy renamed after $24M donation

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis will be renamed after a retired banker and attorney who has donated $24 million to the school.

IU officials announced Thursday the school will be renamed the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. The name change takes effect immediately.

IU says the gift is the largest ever received by the law school. The gift, along with matching funds from an IUPUI fundraising campaign, brings the total value to $31.5 million.

The school says the money will be used to help attract nationally recognized scholars to the faculty and to endow a fund for scholarships.

McKinney is a founding partner of Bose McKinney & Evans, one of the largest law firms in Indianapolis. He received his law degree from IU.
