31-count indictment returned against murder suspect

A 31-count indictment has been returned against a parolee accused of stabbing to death a West suburban girl.

Cook County State’s Attorney spokesman Andy Conklin says John L. Wilson Jr. of Chicago is charged with murder, armed robbery, residential burglary, home invasion and aggravated unlawful restraint in connection with the fatal stabbing of Kelli O’Laughlin.

Prosecutors say the girl was killed after coming home from school and finding Wilson burglarizing the Indian Head Park residence. Authorities say DNA from a knit cap left behind was matched to Wilson.

Wilson was paroled from an Illinois prison last November after serving 7½ years of an 11-year sentence for robbery. Illinois Department of Corrections records also show he served prison time on earlier convictions for aggravated battery, auto theft and drug possession.
