Registration is still open for Saturday's 5K Rotary Santa Run, the annual run to welcome the season through downtown Arlington Heights.

The race kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, and each runner wears a five-piece Santa suit. Leading off the race this year will be Santa Bob Rohrman, riding in a red convertible in front of the runners.

New this year is the Reindeer Run for kids 10 and younger. It starts at 9:15 a.m. and kids wear Rudolph noses and antlers for the two-block event.

There's also a 1-mile walk for Santas who prefer to stroll.

Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome; registration is $33 for those 13 and older, $23 for those 12 and younger.

Proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights' local community projects, as well as Rotary International's efforts to eradicate polio worldwide.

Pick up a Rotary Santa Run brochure at Runner's High, 7 S. Dunton; Tuscan Market & Wine Shop, 141 W. Wing; branches of People's Bank, Village Bank & Harris Bank; or the Arlington Heights Memorial Library.

Online registration is closed, but registrations on Friday are being taken at Runner's High. On race day, Saturday, runners can register only in the lobby of the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 W. Campbell St., for $5 more. Call Rotarian Deb Whisler at (847) 506-2613.
