The Elk Grove Village Police Department issued 249 seat belt citations during increased traffic enforcement over the Thanksgiving Day Holiday period, Nov. 14-27. During this two-week period, officers were assigned to several seat belt enforcement zones where a zero-tolerance stance was taken against unrestrained motorists. Police officers stopped 259 vehicles issuing 249 seat belt citations, one child restraint citation, two transportation of open alcohol citations, two uninsured motor vehicle citations and 18 other citations for various moving or equipment violations. They also made one driving while license suspended arrest, three for no valid driver’s license, four for possession of cannabis and two for possession of drug paraphernalia.
