Cepeda’s outrage unjustified
Concerning the column Esther J. Cepeda wrote Nov. 20, she is dead wrong when she states that “at least 5,100 children were left behind when their parents were deported.”
Their parents took that risk when they broke the law and came here illegally. They also can have their anchor babies brought with them back to the country that they came from. She states how outraged we should be about this. Where is the outrage that our government continues to allow illegal immigration on such a grand scale?
No, Esther Cepeda, we don’t need to fix a broken system, we need to properly enforce the one already on the books and also take a long, hard look at what it meant in the Constitution as far as children born here. It wasn’t to grant every Mexican child citizenship just because their parents sneaked in here and had a child. I wonder if Hispanics would be so outraged if it were Americans sneaking into Mexico by the millions and demanding every right that they don’t deserve.
