Brother of Ind. mayor charged with child molesting

ANDERSON, Ind. — A firefighter whose brother is a central Indiana city’s mayor faces child molesting charges that date back 25 years.

State troopers arrested 46-year-old Martin Ockomon of Anderson on Tuesday on felony charges filed by a special prosecutor assigned to the case. He’s charged with fondling and forcing oral sex with three children ranging in age from under 12 to 16 between 1986 and 1998.

Defense attorney Bryan Williams tells WISH-TV that Ockomon “adamantly denies” the charges. Williams tells The Herald Bulletin that no charges resulted when the allegations were investigated 20 years ago by a detective who has since died.

Court documents say more allegations weren’t originally reported because the children claimed Ockomon intimidated them.

Anderson Mayor Kris Ockomon lost his re-election bid in the Nov. 8 election.
