Bomb threat at Batavia senior day care center

The Elderday Center day care center in Batavia was evacuated Tuesday morning when it received a bomb threat, according to police.

The Bethany Ministry Center, in which Elderday is located, was checked by a bomb-sniffing police dog from the Kane County Sheriff’s Department. Nothing suspicious was found, Batavia police said.

The ministry center, owned by Bethany Lutheran Church, is located in a former school building next to the church, at Lincoln and Wilson streets.

Elderday, a nonprofit organization, provides day care to senior citizens.

Elderday workers told Batavia police that lately the agency has received “numerous” phone calls asking about the agency moving.

The agency has no plans to move.
