2 accused of interfering with Geneva police

Two men were charged with interfering with peace officers early on Thanksgiving Day as Geneva police were breaking up a large downtown crowd.

Tyler W. Hemming, 24, of the 300 block of Fairmount Court in St. Charles, and David C. Schonback, 27, of the 2000 block of Pepper Valley Drive in Geneva, were given ordinance violation notices at 1:42 a.m. Nov. 24 at Second and State streets. The fines are $50 apiece.

At the time, police were trying to disperse a crowd of about 150 people on the block as closing time for nearby bars approached. Police broke up three incidents of fighting, according to Geneva Deputy Cmdr. Julie Nash.

Batavia police were called to help control the crowd.
