Barrington plans for weekend of holiday events
Barrington is celebrating a long weekend of holiday events, Thursday-Sunday, Dec. 1-4.
Luminaria Night: 4-7 p.m. Dec. 1. Luminarias light the way from store to store across the village. Shops and restaurants will participate with special treats, activities and surprises.Shop and Dine Barrington: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Dec. 2. More than 40 restaurants to choose from and cuisines from around the globe, restaurants are creating special menus and events.Santa Arrives in Barrington: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3:Ÿ Candy Cane Festival, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Foundry Shopping Center. Photos with Santa, petting zoo, free antlers, write a letter to Santa, a Barrington fire truck and retailers with treats and activities. Santa arrives at 10:30 a.m.Ÿ Winter Wonderland, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Ice House Mall. A story hour by Mrs. Claus, cookies and milk; at 1:30 p.m. a presentation of #147;The Nutcracker#148; by Midwest Dance Collective. Enter to win the Land of Sweets Display. Santa#146;s Grand Welcome at 2:30 p.m.; children wave magic wands to greet Santa and the Nutcracker Dancers as they arrive by trolley.Ÿ Gingerbread Lane, 1-5 p.m. at The Shops on Lageschulte. Candy canes and gingerbread boys and girls line the street, strolling carolers, ice sculpture carving demonstration. Santa arrives at 4 p.m.Ÿ Barrington Aglow, 1-7 p.m. Village Center on South Cook Street. Carriage rides on Cook Street 1-5 p.m.; strolling Madrigal Singers; free hot chocolate and cookies and Santa#146;s arrival on the Barrington fire engine at 5 p.m. to light the Christmas tree. Santa will visit with children in his red Santa House 5-7 p.m.Ÿ The Barrington Holiday Trolley will roll from 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on Saturday between the Village Center, The Ice House Mall, Shops on Lageschulte Street and the Foundry Shopping Center.Merchants open house: 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Dec. 4.
