Verona mother charged in baby’s death

MADISON, Wis. — A Verona woman is charged in the death of her 2-month-old baby.

A criminal complaint accuses 28-year-old Anne Olson of first-degree reckless homicide in the August death of Gabriel Olson. A Dane County medical examiner’s report says the child died of blunt force injuries to his head and torso, including multiple skull and rib fractures and severe brain injuries. The complaint does not say how the baby suffered the injuries.

Olson told investigators she fell on her son and that her 3-year-old daughter had also dropped him. The State Journal says prosecutors asked for $500,000 bond, but a Dane County court commissioner granted Olson, a day care worker, a signature bond on Monday.
