Peoria cools down Wolves; Express gets past Trenton
Peoria goaltender Ben Bishop interrupted the Chicago Wolves’ hot streak Sunday by posting 28 saves in a 4-0 victory at the Allstate Arena.
The Wolves hadn’t been kept off the scoresheet since Jan. 15, 2011 — a stretch of 52 games — until Bishop (9-6-0) earned his third shutout of the year.
Jonathan Cheechoo (goal, assist) and Derek Nesbitt (goal, assist) helped Peoria snap a four-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, the Wolves (9-7-0-2) lost for just the second time in eight outings, and goaltender Matt Climie (6-3-0) saw his personal five-game winning streak come to a close as well despite making 27 saves.
“It was a disappointing effort all-around,” Wolves head coach Craig MacTavish said. “As good as we felt after the win last night, we feel the exact opposite today.”
