Wis. woman, son reunite after 30 years

RACINE, Wis. — A Mount Pleasant woman who gave up hope of seeing her son after she gave him up for adoption almost 30 years ago says her recent reunion with him is “the best Thanksgiving present” ever.

Tina Murray had other children but never forgot about her firstborn. The 51-year-old created a Facebook page using her maiden name in case he ever wanted to find her.

Then, on Sunday, there was a friend request from Jason William Mateer. Murray says she was in shock to hear from him.

A Journal Times of Racine report says they talked for hours, then met the next day at a bus station.

Murray hugged him and said, “Welcome home.”

“It’s good to be,” he replied.

Mateer plans to spend the holidays with his newfound family.
