Wis. man charged in crash that killed girlfriend

JUNEAU, Wis. — A 20-year-old Beaver Dam man is charged with homicide following a crash last year that killed his girlfriend.

A report in The Reporter of Fond du Lac says Guadalupe Rodriguez Jr. is charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

He’s scheduled to make an initial appearance Monday. That’s the one-year anniversary of the crash that killed 22-year-old Diamond Avalos of Beaver Dam.

It’s not immediately clear why it took nearly a year for the charge to be filed. The Dodge County prosecutor’s office was closed Thursday.

The criminal complaint says Rodriguez’s car failed to negotiate a curve, hit several trees and overturned.

Prosecutors say a blood sample taken six hours later showed the presence of alcohol and marijuana.

Online court records Thursday didn’t list a defense attorney.
