Lake Zurich, neighbors helped rescue dog
Lake Zurich, to me is the best place to live. Our neighbors and our police department are the finest in northern Illinois.
Our greyhound Roxie got loose from our fenced back yard when workers left the yard gate open. And Roxie ran and ran and ran. Four of our Pine Avenue neighbors looked for her on foot (for about an hour), and then we searched for her in our cars.
I called the Lake Zurich police dispatcher and reported Roxie missing. Being a greyhound, Roxie is very shy and will not come to anyone. Our police department tracked her to about 2 miles from our home and stayed with her until I could get to the site. Roxie was standing in a ditch along Midlothian Road. Officer Brad Dobbs and CSO Bob Mara from the Lake Zurich Police Department were directing traffic away from our Roxie, protecting her.
Blessings to Officer Dobbs and CSO Mara — and our neighbors on Pine Avenue. We all love Roxie, and our heartfelt thanks is extended to them for their kindness.
And better yet, we later had telephone calls from caring Lake Zurich residents — far from our home, calling to see if our Roxie was home safe. Blessings to those folks too.
Roxie’s home now and sleeping soundly.
