Include service record in obits

I am a habitual reader of the obituaries and have noticed that, like many others, we are losing our veterans at an appalling rate. Veterans of Word War II, Korea and Vietnam are dying off in droves. It is only proper that we should pay our respects properly. It doesn’t matter if you believe in wars or not, these people have done their duty as they see it while it is becoming difficult to find people in civilian life that do the same.

I’ve noted the little flag icon on most obituaries but not all. Many times the icon is present but there is no mention of their service in the body of the notice. It would be nice to have a little more information as to branch of service and unit, if known. It would the right thing to do to correct this sloppy and disrespectful practice.
