Lake County master plan accepted

After about 15 months in process, Libertyville village officials have accepted a master plan for Lake County’s government campus north and west of Milwaukee Avenue and Winchester Road.

Libertyville officials this week directed staff members to draft a development agreement and ordinance for final approval regarding the 172-acre property.

The agreement includes several concessions by the county regarding building height, setbacks and other details that emerged after intense resident involvement.

The county also agreed not to build a correctional facility on the property and will go through more stringent review of any 24-hour facilities in the northern portion of the site.

The plan, “while not ideal, has been found to be acceptable by the majority of people,” Mayor Terry Weppler said.
