Batavia firm to install free furnace

The owner of Confident Aire in Batavia plans next month to install a furnace for free for a needy family.

For Tom Wangler, the owner of the heating and air conditioning business, this will mark the fifth consecutive year of helping an area family.

The recipient will be chosen Dec. 30. To nominate a family, contact Sue at (630) 761-9007, or fill out a nomination at confidentaire.com.

The gift includes an indoor air-quality analysis, blower-door infiltration test, duct cleaning, sealing of ductwork, installation of a new high-efficiency furnace donated by Trane and Munch Supply and installation of an air filtration system.

Three runners-up will receive a free safety inspection of their furnace.

In 2008, a Batavia family beset by medical problems won. In 2009, the prize went to a Geneva family whose 14-year-old son had battled cancer on and off for 10 years.

Confident Aire, Inc. is a family-owned and operated business, open since 1992.

Wangler is also known for having entered the Fox River to save floundering canoeists in October 2007.
