Closures expected at Naperville Metra Station Nov. 29-Dec. 2
Commuters Should Expect Delays, Plan Ahead During Platform Reconstruction Project
From Tuesday, November 29, through Friday, December 2, the north side of 4th Avenue between Ellsworth Street and Center Street will be closed due to ongoing construction as part of the final phase of Metra's platform station improvements. During this time frame, the Naperville Metra train station building will be closed daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The closures are necessary for workers to pour concrete for the reconstruction of the southeast portion of the platform. All work is weather dependent; notice of schedule changes and other information about the project will be posted to the City's website at www.naperville.il.us/metraplatform.aspx.
The closures will impact Pace bus passenger pick-up/drop-off activity; daily fee parking spaces; and vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian access to the train station. Commuters should expect delays and allow for additional time during their commute. Due to these station restrictions, regular commuters are encouraged to purchase their monthly passes early. Monthly passes can also be purchased between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Union Station. Closure of the train station building will not affect the Metra or Amtrak train schedule.
The Metra Platform Improvement Project includes the removal and reconstruction of the north and south platforms of the Naperville Metra Station. Construction is slated for completion in late December 2011.
Commuters, residents, business owners and other stakeholders are encouraged to register on the City's website at www.naperville.il.us/enews.aspx to receive the Metra Platform Improvement Project e-Newsletter. While this is strictly a Metra project, the City continues to distribute news as it becomes available. For more information on the City of Naperville, visit www.naperville.il.us.
