Wis. gunman ties up homeowner, steals cash, handguns
HUDSON, Wis. — Police say an armed robber forced his way into a home in the western Wisconsin town of Hudson early Monday, bound the homeowner with “zip ties” and stole several handguns and cash from a safe in the garage.
Officers called in St. Croix County sheriff's deputies and their tracking dog, which led them to a house about a block away. The homeowner told officers he had just given a ride to a man who said his vehicle broke down. The homeowner said he dropped the man off at a Kwik Trip gas station.
Officers and deputies went to the gas station, removed the clerks and arrested a 26-year-old suspect as he left the men's room. Authorities say they recovered a backpack in the store that contained a loaded handgun and cash.
